Global Oceanic – Short Film Festival

DEXAMENES, April – May 2025

The Sea as a Storyteller. At Dexamenes Seaside Hotel, the sea is more than a view—it’s a voice, a rhythm, a presence that shapes everything we do. Nestled on the shores of the Ionian Sea, we believe that hotels like ours have a unique opportunity to become platforms for meaningful change. By opening our spaces to events like the Global Oceanic Short Film Festival, we’re not just hosting films—we’re creating conversations. Conversations that bring awareness to the fragility and wonder of our marine ecosystems. For our guests, it’s a chance to connect more deeply with the place they’re visiting. For our local community, it’s a space to come together, to learn, and to be inspired. Through the power of storytelling, art, and shared experiences, we hope to turn awareness into action—because the sea has stories to tell, and we are here to listen.

At Dexamenes Seaside Hotel, sustainability isn’t just a principle — it’s a way of life that shapes every decision we make. Hosting the Oceanic Global Short Film Festival felt like a natural extension of our values. As a hotel rooted in the history of a post-war wine factory, perched right on the Ionian coast, we’re deeply connected to the sea and its ecosystems. Partnering with Oceanic Global and Design Hotels allows us to use our space — specifically one of our iconic wine silos — not just for hospitality, but as a platform for education, creativity, and meaningful conversation around ocean conservation.

Our hope is to inspire both our guests and the local community to reflect on the profound impact our choices have on the marine environment. In our region, issues like overfishing, plastic pollution, and declining biodiversity are not abstract — they’re visible, urgent challenges. By screening these powerful short films, we aim to spark dialogue around sustainable seafood, conscious fishing practices, and broader environmental responsibility. We want to move beyond awareness and toward action — whether that means supporting local initiatives, making more informed consumer choices, or simply seeing the sea with a renewed sense of respect and wonder.
